Starlets
Starlets is a preschool program where parents and children can participate together. The preschool sessions meet once a week during the school year, with a licensed teacher. Early literacy and math skills are emphasized, to provide children with foundational skills for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Group learning activities during meeting time involve the calendar, weather, number concepts, and early literacy concepts (letter of the day, oral language, and vocabulary). Following meeting time, a large portion of the session is devoted to center time, in which parents and children participate together in a variety of hands-on learning activities. Starlets class ends with a story and music.
Each child enrolled in Starlets has the option of receiving a developmental screening during the school year. The Starlets program is a one-time fee of $30 and is open to all families in the Maize School District with a child who is three to five years old when the school year begins. There is also a Mini Starlets class that starts mid January for kids that turn three between Sept. 1 and Jan. 31. This class costs $20 for the semester.
